In less than 48 hours begins a holiday. For me, sister D and BF. And for Love, JanieLou. We are leaving the internet world for just a couple of weeks while we enjoy family times, but will be back processing orders and stitching goodies after the 12th October. Any orders placed between now and then will be shipped the 12th! Hope that's okay.
For now, I'll leave you with pics of what I've been stitching the last little while.
These little girly goodies were shipped of to Andrea and Marie at The Clothesline, and there's a few more on the go for our own etsy.
And this one...
... was sent to my dear sister Andrea, for her birthday just recently. I just love pom-poms and vintage style fabrics. :)
Have a happy couple of weeks friends!

Products from JanieLou are popping up all over the place of late. With an influx of requests to stock our products, the sewing machine has had to be running hot.
So where have you been? I hear you ask. Or maybe not. But I'm going to tell you anyhow :)
* In August we made our first appearance in the Balmain art gallery, Breathing Colours. They are stocking our purses & wallets. If you're in the area, go visit them! Or for those of us who can't pop in- check out their website.
* We've just arrived at Nook! The Nook Shop is the hippest new shop around, and is all about handmadeness and eco-ness (yep. new word!). It's located in Brisbane's West End and is definitely worth a visit. You can find our purses there too! 19 Browning Street, West End.
* We've also been in SHOPgirl magazine:
Thanks to Andrea & Marie of The Clothesline we scored a pic of one of our kids purses on page 51.
Happy week to you all!

Hello friends! It's show time here in sunny QLD and the ladies at BrisStyle have decided to get in on the action. So, we're having a sale.
Love, JanieLou is offering free shipping Australia-wide for the duration of the show (August 6th-15th), and there are many more exciting offers from other BrisStylers. So head on over to BrisStyle and see what other Ekka Excitement there is to join in on!
Happy Show Shopping!
So. How have you all been this last month or so? It's been terribly long since I posted that I wonder if anyone will ever come back! But I'm here at last... and with some pics of excitingness which I'm sure most of you already know about. But I'm going to post them anyway :)
We were in Peppermint Magazine! Tess Curran, one of the writers over at Peppermint wrote a massively long article on the resurgace of DIY, titled Made with Love. Nice work Tess!
And here is a pic of us- just to prove that we really were in there :)
And in other news [news that will no doubt explain the lack of presence here], a gentleman of the very nicest sorts has been a-calling. He is affectionately known as Jim-bob and is, well, affectionately known :)
I think the most recent change from Autumn to Winter was the best season change in the sunny state yet. It really did suddenly feel like Winter on the first of June. And it was delightful. The nights are so cool (I got cold last night, even though I had just put flannelette sheets on my bed!), and the days are beautiful too. We get to wear our cozy cardigans and those knee-high boots out... I've been hanging out for this, my favourite month. And now it's here. I'm still yet to make the most of my gorgeous trench coat I got for my birthday this year, but I'm sure the right moment will come.
I've just pulled some cookies out of the oven. One of these and cuppa sound okay?
I love birthdays! They're so much fun. And giving presents is one of the best things about them. For quite a while I didn't have much spare time, so off to the shopping centre I'd go if a birthday was coming up (which is fun, but not the funnest). But lately, I've been able to make some gifts! Yay! I just love it when I get time to make a present, because I feel like I'm giving a friend a piece of me... and not something that so many others have bought for their friends.
So here's what I've been up to:
This apron was sent off to a friend who I've been writing to for the past eight years, and was made using Mady By Miffy's newest pattern. It was such fun to stitch up... so much so that I made a mini version soon after for my darling neice. Unfortunately I didn't get a good photo of the second one, but it was made out of a yellow spot fabric with purple ties and ruffle.
Two friends (also sisters) have recently each had a son! So we bought these little cotton spencers the other day and appliqued each boy's initial on the front. Aren't they cute?
In other stitching news... I've been sewing our Etsy & blog banners to give Love, JanieLou a new look in time for all those Peppermint readers out there. Yep! We're going to be in the next (I think!) issue!
Happy sewing!

Off to the Stiches & Craft show I went on Thursday morning, and boy, was it a fun day! To get in free, for starters, was great (gotta love volunteering!)! And then to be working with two lovely ladies was just dandy. We arrived at the Reconstruction Zone, created by Wardrobe Refashion, to find the most hideous yellow reflector vests we had to wear, and the 'zone' marked out with yellow & black construction site tape :)
There were piles upon piles of clothes from op shops, as well as old bed-spreads, and remnants, and some new things, like ric-rac and buttons, all waiting to be used in some reconstruction. At first people were a bit stand-offish, until the gals got working that is! Bec & Nicole each found something to work on, and soon the machines were running hot, and people got very interested! So many were just so excited at the idea of being able to pick anything they like and make something new- and to take it home at the end of the day! There were young girls who had never sewn before, and others who were a tad scared to step out of their comfort zone, but were so glad when they did. Some girls spent hours at the machines, while others just zipped in and out with something new at the other end. All in all people were thrilled to be able to have a go...
Here's Bec at work...
One of the massive piles of clothing and fabric!
I took these lemon shorts, and cut them off across the bottom, and gathered the gorgeous blue floral fabric onto them to make a skirt.
Nicole is part way through the refashioning of these cut off pants.
Now onto the show-goers creations... Cute huh?
This young gal had never done stitch in her life!
Don't you love this apron made out of a doona cover?
If you get a chance... head over to Wardrobe Refashion and be inspired! Maybe you could have a go at some reconstruction yourself... it really is loads of fun!
